Suns, Nuggets Battle Back from Losses

Mar-2nd-2010

Phoenix Suns 101, Denver Nuggets 85

Yes, I am fully aware that there was a Suns game yesterday. And I am aware there is one tomorrow. You see, my attention has been sidelined a bit by some other family matters.

Still, I did manage to watch most of the Suns-Nuggets game. I was worried that after that failed dunk that J-Rich might come back a head case. But he came back with a decent 4-7 shooting night, 7 rebounds and defense that helped. The rest of the team, however, came out a bit sluggish, and the first quarter ended with the Suns down by nine.

The second quarter, though, really shook it up. The bench trio of Dragic, Dudley and Amundson, along with the offense of Frye, led to a 33-11 quarter that effectively put the Nuggets away. That was the story of the game. Oh, there was a second half. And the Nuggets did battle back, using an effective trapping scheme against Nash. But they couldn’t get much closer than 12 points or so, especially with Carmelo Anthony misfiring down the stretch.

This is really good news for the Suns, to come back from a loss on a back-to-back and win the second game against a good team. Sure, the 14-3 run to start the season was nice, but I’d rather they have been 3-14 then and be 14-3 now. Having only lost two of their last 9 games, that could happen. Things are looking up on Planet Orange!
